Teachers in Tacoma have a general membership meeting this afternoon and may take a strike vote. Tukwila teachers are in negotiations today and will be on strike Sept. 5 if they don't reach a settlement.
Teachers in Evergreen, Washougal, Battle Ground, Longview, Centralia, Stanwood-Camano, Rainier and Tumwater are on strike. (Student classes were set to start Sept. 5 in Tumwater and Centralia.)

Schools received $2 billion in new state funding for educator salaries this year because of the Supreme Court's McCleary funding decision.
